Social Welfare
The OWC is an unregistered, non-profit organization. We host two major annual fundraisers: a dinner dance, which is held in the fall, and an annual garden tea, held in February. The proceeds from these events enable us to continue supporting several charitable homes and institutions in Chennai. We also encourage sponsorship from both the local business community and businesses abroad, through our members’ personal contacts. Additionally, we receive royalties from the sale of our books.
Members can contribute individually, often just with physical help, either directly to our designated charity organizations or through the OWC Social Welfare Sub-Committee. Our members’ involvement does not necessarily end when they leave the city. Many former members, long since gone from Chennai, kindly continue to contribute to our causes.
